Energy giant Chevron is investing $1 billion to set up a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru, its largest innovation hub outside the U.S. The Chevron Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center (ENGINE), located near Bellandur, will support the company's global operations and advanced projects.
The centre will recruit 600 professionals by the end of 2025, with plans to expand further. Chevron's investment, spread over five to six years, will focus on high-end work like analyzing geological data for carbon sequestration and using AI for seismic data analysis.
ENGINE will also create digital twins of Chevron's processing facilities and monitor operations to enhance efficiency. The centre's work will include predictive maintenance by analyzing historical data from manufacturing equipment. Chevron already operates three tech centres in Houston, Texas; Richmond, California; and Aberdeen, Scotland.
This strategic move strengthens Chevron’s global innovation capabilities, positioning Bengaluru as a key player in the company's future technological advancements.
