Chhattisgarh Greenlights GPIL's Sponge Iron Expansion Drive

Godawari Power and Ispat (GPIL) has recently secured approval from the Chhattisgarh government to augment its sponge iron production capacity by approximately one lakh tonnes. This expansion initiative, conducted as a trial at the company's Siltara Industrial Area site in Raipur, aims to elevate production to 5.94 lakh tonnes per annum.

The Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board has granted its consent to operate, endorsing the enhanced capacity of the sponge iron division (SID). The approval is valid until August 31, 2024, with the possibility of further renewal.
