Construction of the Chilla elevated road has resumed after a four-year delay. The six-lane, 5.9 km stretch will connect Delhi's Chilla Regulator near Mayur Vihar to the Mahamaya Flyover on the Noida Expressway, significantly easing congestion along the Delhi-Noida Link Road, where commuters often face hour-long traffic jams.
Designed to eliminate this bottleneck, the elevated road will enhance connectivity between Delhi and Noida. It will also improve traffic flow in key areas, including Sector 14A/15A, Film City, Greater Noida, Kalindi Kunj, and Faridabad. The Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation (UPSBCL) is executing the project, with MG Contractors handling construction. The road design has been submitted to IIT-Delhi for approval. Currently, piling work is underway with 50 workers on-site, and more will be added as construction advances. The elevated road, running parallel to the Shahdara drain, will feature five ramps for better traffic access.
Originally approved by the Delhi government in 2018, the project’s foundation stone was laid by CM Yogi Adityanath in January 2019. However, delays arose due to funding issues from PWD and the need to realign a GAIL gas pipeline. Now moving forward with a revised budget of ₹893 crore, the project is expected to be completed within three years.
