Clearing the Path: Delhi Approves Major Metro & Road Upgrades

The Unified Traffic & Transportation Infrastructure (Planning & Engineering) Centre (UTTIPEC)—chaired by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu—has approved multimodal integration (MMI) schemes for six major Delhi Metro stations alongside vital road infrastructure projects.

Formulated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the newly cleared MMI blueprint targets a 300-metre radius around stations such as GTB Nagar and Sarita Vihar. These schemes focus heavily on enhancing passenger safety, improving walkability, organizing para-transit options, and optimizing transitions to public transport networks. With these additions, UTTIPEC has successfully cleared all 31 station integration plans mapped out for Delhi's Phase I and II metro corridors.

Additionally, the governing body greenlit a 5.5-kilometre, six-lane elevated corridor along Maa Anandmayee Marg in south Delhi to bypass 12 congested intersections, alongside a capacity-enhancement project at Mukarba Chowk to significantly curb regional transit delays.
