The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved an allocation of Rs 931.15 crore for the construction of the Bhandara–Gadchiroli Access Controlled Super Communication Expressway.
This 94.241 km, four-lane greenfield expressway will be implemented by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and integrated with the Mumbai–Nagpur Samruddhi Mahamarg, significantly improving connectivity across the Vidarbha region. The proposed alignment will traverse over 60 villages across five talukas in the Nagpur, Bhandara, and Chandrapur districts.
According to officials, the expressway will shorten road distance by 23 km and significantly reduce travel time between Gadchiroli, Bhandara, and onward to Nagpur and Mumbai. The corridor is expected to benefit nearby towns by integrating them into Maharashtra’s growing expressway network.
Designed to stimulate socio-economic development in underconnected regions, the project aims to enhance logistics efficiency, promote industrial growth, support agricultural activities, and boost tourism potential in the region.
Previously, MSRDC invited bids for the first segment of the project (Package BG-01), estimated at Rs 1,854.16 crore, attracting participation from four bidders.
