Coromandel International, a leading agri-solutions provider in India, has signed an agreement with Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions (India) to expand its seawater desalination capacity at the Vizag facility from 6 million litres per day (MLD) to 9 MLD.
Commissioned in 2023, the existing desalination plant plays a key role in reducing dependency on surface water and enhancing the site's operational resilience. The upcoming expansion will follow a build-own-operate (BOO) model, with Coromandel providing the infrastructure and Veolia bringing in its global expertise in advanced water treatment technologies and plant operations.
Upon completion, the upgraded plant will cater to 60–70% of Coromandel’s water requirements at Vizag, significantly lowering reliance on external water sources. This initiative reinforces Coromandel’s commitment to sustainable water management and the adoption of innovative, resource-efficient solutions.
