CPRL to Invest $150M in McDonald's India Expansion Spree

Connaught Plaza Restaurants (CPRL), the master franchiser for McDonald's in North and East India, plans to invest up to USD 150 million (Rs 1,280.7 crore) over the next three to four years to expand its quick service restaurant (QSR) footprint. The company aims to grow its current store count from 245 to over 300 by the end of 2025, with a longer-term goal of reaching 500 to 600 outlets by 2030.

Vice Chairman of MMG Group and CPRL, Anant Agarwal, shared that CPRL is also set to expand its McCafé brand from 125 to 200 outlets by year-end. Since acquiring CPRL in 2020, the MMG Group has been upgrading stores to the modern "Experience of the Future" (EOTF) format and is focusing on expanding into smaller-format outlets across emerging Tier III and lower-tier cities.

The expansion will cover both existing strongholds like Delhi NCR, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, and new markets such as Gangtok, Siliguri, and Guwahati. “The potential and opportunity are huge,” said Agarwal.
