Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar inaugurated a project to fill 74 lakes in the Kudligi constituency using water from the Tungabhadra Dam.
During the event, he highlighted that all crest gates of the dam are being replaced, with work already in progress. Addressing concerns about water release for the second crop, Deputy CM Shivakumar emphasized that safety remains the top priority and urged farmers to avoid undue pressure regarding water distribution. He clarified that the Tungabhadra Board will make the final decision on water release.
In addition, the government is exploring the establishment of a silk market in Kudligi to benefit local sericulture farmers. With around 4,000 silk growers in the region, the market aims to ensure better pricing and strengthen the livelihoods of those involved in silk production.
