Deep Waters, Green Horizons: The New Era of HOEC

Hindustan Oil Exploration Company (HOEC) is planning to pursue strategic partnerships to expand its exploration and production capabilities. Managing Director and CEO Baroruchi Mishra said the company aims to leverage collaborations to achieve scale and strengthen technical expertise, particularly in complex deepwater projects.

HOEC, which has an estimated 100 million barrels of oil and oil-equivalent reserves, is also focusing on enhancing output from its key assets. The Dirok gas field in Assam is expected to increase production to around 45 million cubic feet per day, supported by improved pipeline connectivity. The B-80 offshore field and the PY-1 block in the Bay of Bengal are undergoing technical upgrades and drilling interventions to boost output, while new drilling campaigns are planned at the Kharsang field in Arunachal Pradesh using advanced field analytics.

Mishra noted that such partnerships will help strengthen the company’s upstream operations while building a more future-ready energy platform.

In addition to conventional oil and gas, HOEC is exploring opportunities in green fuels such as compressed biogas and bio-LNG, as part of its strategy to diversify into low-carbon energy solutions. The company is also focusing on building a high-performance and inclusive workplace to support its growth ambitions.
