Servotech Power Systems, in collaboration with the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI), has launched Delhi's first solar-powered EV charging carport. Located at Hauz Khas Village parking station, this project serves as a pilot for sustainable energy and EV infrastructure. Servotech took charge of manufacturing, designing, and commissioning the solar panels and EV chargers, ensuring the seamless implementation of the carport infrastructure.
This innovative PV carport offers a new business model for distribution companies and businesses aiming to transition to electric fleets for last-mile deliveries. It provides fast charging for two- and four-wheelers in under an hour, enhancing efficiency for delivery services in urban areas. The project not only promotes sustainable energy use but also supports the adoption of electric vehicles, contributing to a greener urban environment.
The inauguration of the carport was attended by Dr. Philipp Ackermann, the German Ambassador to India and Bhutan, alongside key officials from Servotech and NSEFI. The collaboration between NSEFI, the Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft e.V (BSW), BSES, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was crucial for this initiative, which is part of the KVP project supported by Sequa GmbH and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The project demonstrates a scalable model for solar net-metering combined with EV fast charging, potentially transforming urban mobility and energy usage. This carport is a significant step towards decarbonizing transport and promoting green mobility, aligning with India's sustainability goals and enhancing the city's infrastructure for electric vehicles.
