Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on 19 April 2026 inaugurated and laid the foundation for three major Jal Shakti Department projects in the Dalhousie area, with a total investment of ₹96.32 crore.
The initiatives are aimed at strengthening drinking water supply and sanitation infrastructure in the region. They include the Dalhousie Drinking Water Scheme (Improvement & Expansion) worth ₹67.60 crore, the Dalhousie Drinking Water Scheme (Augmentation & Alha Water Storage Improvement) valued at ₹25.70 crore, and the Dalhousie Sewerage Scheme (Diversion & Obstruction Removal) estimated at ₹3 crore.
Speaking at Paridhi Grih in Dalhousie, Agnihotri reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to developing a modern, reliable, and sustainable water and sanitation network. He highlighted that the upgraded water supply system has been expanded to meet future demand, with capacity increased from 40 lakh litres per day to 80 lakh litres per day, taking the total availability to 120 lakh litres per day.
The projects involve the development of 220 km of pipelines, 26 storage tanks, modern treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution systems, covering municipal, cantonment, and defence areas. Additionally, works worth ₹315 crore are currently in progress, with the sewerage project targeted for completion by 2027.
