Eisai Pharma, a global leader in pharmaceuticals, has announced plans to set up a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Visakhapatnam, reinforcing its commitment to digital innovation and healthcare transformation in India.
The announcement was made by Makoto Haketsu, Global CIO of Eisai Pharma, during a visit to GITAM Deemed to be University on July 9, 2025. Haketsu, along with his core technical team, met with Visakhapatnam MP and GITAM President M. Sribharat to explore academic-industry partnerships focused on digital health innovation and collaborative research.
GITAM leadership, including Secretary M. Bharadwaja, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Eroll D’Souza, and Pro VC Prof. Y. Goutham Rao, participated in strategic discussions. Haketsu acknowledged the support of the Andhra Pradesh Government and the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ), stating, “By harnessing exceptional digital talent, we aim to deliver solutions that redefine healthcare delivery.”
The upcoming GCC is expected to drive local employment, advance digital health capabilities, and strengthen the healthcare innovation ecosystem, aligning with India’s growing leadership in digital transformation.
