Commuters between Delhi-NCR and the upcoming Noida International Airport will soon benefit from a six-lane elevated expressway. The Uttar Pradesh government has tasked UPEIDA with leading the construction of this vital corridor, which will run along the riverside from the Okhla Barrage near Kalindi Kunj to the Yamuna Expressway, cutting through the Hindon-Yamuna doab.
This elevated route replaces earlier plans for a ground-level eight-lane road, which faced obstacles due to widespread illegal encroachments and floodplain regulations. Officials determined the elevated structure to be the only feasible option to meet capacity and regulatory requirements.
The expressway will link Sector 168 with a 75-meter-wide road between Sectors 149A and 150, offering direct access for travelers from Delhi and Faridabad to the airport, expected to become operational later this year.
Although the Noida Authority initially considered involving NHAI and classifying the road as a national highway, the plan was dropped. Following a March 28 board meeting, the Noida Authority was directed to lead the project in coordination with Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway authorities.
According to Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M, UPEIDA will oversee the project after securing a no-objection certificate from the irrigation department. Costs will be shared among all three development bodies, with a joint meeting to finalize plans.
This expressway is set to reduce travel time and enhance regional connectivity, supporting the economic growth surrounding the Noida International Airport.
