Electrolyzer Bonanza! Reliance, Jindal, and John Cockerill Power Up India's Green Hydrogen Dreams

Reliance Electrolyser Manufacturing, Jindal India, and John Cockerill Greenko Hydrogen Solutions are among the six successful bidders to be awarded incentives for establishing facilities dedicated to manufacturing electrolysers, a crucial component essential for green hydrogen production.

These six companies have collectively secured incentives totaling Rs 1,776 crore for a cumulative capacity of 1,200 MW under the category 'Bucket-1: Electrolyser manufacturing capacity based on any stack technology.' Out of the 14 firms that submitted bids in response to the tender issued by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), these six emerged as qualified recipients of incentives. The tender, which invited proposals for the establishment of 1.5 GW manufacturing capacity for electrolysers, was initiated on July 7, 2023.

In a statement released by SECI on January 12, 2024, it was disclosed that Reliance Electrolyser has secured an incentive of Rs 444 crore for establishing a 300 MW manufacturing capacity for electrolysers. Similarly, both John Cockerill Greenko Hydrogen Solutions and Jindal India have been granted incentives of Rs 444 crore each for setting up 300 MW manufacturing capacities for electrolysers.

Ohmium Operations has been awarded Rs 202.76 crore in incentives for a 137 MW capacity, while Advait Infratech (a consortium with Rajesh Power Service) is set to receive Rs 148 crore for establishing a 100 MW capacity. L&T Electrolysers has successfully secured incentives amounting to Rs 93.24 crore for a 63 MW manufacturing capacity.

Moving on to 'Bucket-2,' which focuses on electrolyser manufacturing capacity based on developed stack technology, Homihydrogen and Adani New Industries have emerged as the winning bidders. Homihydrogen is slated to receive incentives totaling Rs 150.22 crore for the establishment of a 101.5 MW electrolysers manufacturing capacity, while Adani New Industries has secured Rs 293.78 crore for a 198.5 MW capacity.
