Epsilon Carbon has formalized a strategic partnership with the Government of Odisha by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration involves a significant investment of Rs 10,000 crore over the next decade, dedicated to establishing an Integrated Carbon Complex (ICC) in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
The ICC project is poised to be a pivotal manufacturing hub with a production capacity of 8,75,000 tons per annum (tpa), encompassing various carbon products. Its key components include a speciality carbon capacity of 5,00,000 tpa, carbon black capacity of 300,000 tpa, and advanced materials capacity of 75,000 tpa. This marks a noteworthy expansion in Epsilon Carbon's production capabilities.
Anticipated to generate approximately 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, the project is set to play a significant role in fostering socio-economic development in the region.
The selection of Jharsuguda as the project location is substantiated by the existing industrial ecosystem, the availability of skilled labor, robust infrastructure, and the favorable industry policies of the region. Additionally, the proximity to major steel industries and the recognition of Jharsuguda as India's aluminum hub for coal tar pitch utilization, along with connectivity to ports like Paradip, provides logistical advantages for seamless export operations.
The venture aligns with Epsilon Carbon's sustainable business strategy, leveraging the state's industrial-friendly policies and complementing the existing steel and aluminum industries. Beyond contributing to the region's industrial growth, the project underscores Epsilon Carbon's commitment to sustainable development, aiming to make a positive impact on both the economic and environmental fronts.
