ESIC to Build Four New 100-Bed Hospitals in Tamil Nadu

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is set to significantly expand its healthcare infrastructure in Tamil Nadu, with plans to establish four new 100-bed hospitals.

Construction is already underway for two hospitals in Sriperumbudur and Thoothukudi, both slated for completion by the end of 2025. Additionally, ESIC has initiated land acquisition for four more facilities in Erode, Dindigul, Chengalpattu, and Nagercoil.

Tamil Nadu currently has 11 ESIC hospitals — three directly managed by ESIC, including the ESIC Medical College and Hospital in KK Nagar, Chennai, and hospitals in Tirunelveli and Tiruppur. The remaining eight are operated by the State government in cities such as Madurai, Coimbatore, and Vellore. The state also has 241 ESIC dispensaries, serving one of the largest insured populations in India — the second highest nationally.

This expansion highlights the Central Government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare access and infrastructure for insured workers across the state.
