Essar's Black Box Commits ₹100 Crore to India's Digital Future

Black Box, a global digital infrastructure integrator backed by Essar Group, has committed ₹100 crore to expand its operations in India, aiming to more than double its domestic business in the coming years.

This investment is part of the ₹410 crore recently raised by the company and will primarily support the enhancement of its Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. As part of this expansion, Black Box plans to double its Indian workforce from 500 to 1,000 employees within a year. Globally, the company employs 3,000 people.

India’s emerging data centre ecosystem, currently estimated at 800–900 MW—comparable to a single US hyperscaler—is seen as a long-term growth market by Black Box. Though most of its business is US-based, India is quickly becoming a key strategic focus. The company aims to leverage its global expertise with hyperscale clients to support AI and cloud adoption across key sectors such as transportation, logistics, airports, and public sector enterprises.

In a recent milestone, Black Box secured a ₹100 crore, five-year cybersecurity contract with one of India’s largest municipal corporations, covering the digital security needs of 20,000 public sector employees.
