izmo Microsystems has become the exclusive industry partner of IIT Madras in a groundbreaking initiative at the Centre for Programmable Photonic Integrated Circuits and Systems (CPPICS), a Centre of Excellence (CoE) led by Prof. Bijoy Das.
This partnership focuses on designing, developing, and advancing the packaging of programmable photonic processor cores using Silicon Photonics Technology—a crucial step toward the future of photonic computing and communication. The centre's immediate objective is to enhance applications in microwave and quantum photonics, reinforcing India's leadership in semiconductor and photonics innovation.
Leveraging its expertise in System-in-Package (SiP) solutions, izmo Microsystems is driving cutting-edge design, fabrication, and testing for photonic chip packaging. This collaboration strengthens India's position at the forefront of next-generation computing technologies.
Established in 2021 within the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras, CoE-CPPICS received Rs 2,665 lakh in seed funding from MeitY, Government of India, along with an in-kind contribution of Rs 325 lakh from izmo Microsystems.
