Fadnavis Fast-Tracks 5,000 MW Solar Plan for Rural Power Boost

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the expedited completion of 5,000 MW of solar projects under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 by September 2025, calling it his “dream initiative.”

Chairing a high-level review meeting in Mumbai, CM Fadnavis emphasized urgency, elimination of procedural delays, and strict adherence to timelines. The review focused on key issues such as land acquisition, inter-departmental coordination, and project execution. Senior ministers, the Chief Secretary, and top officials were in attendance, while all District Collectors and Zilla Parishad CEOs joined via video conferencing.

The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure seamless collaboration between government departments and private developers for solar projects on both government and private land. He also called for the fast-tracking of NOC issuance, land leases, re-measurements, encroachment removal, and statutory approvals.

Forest clearances for transmission lines and related infrastructure on private land must be expedited in compliance with tree-protection norms. District-level task forces will monitor implementation to ensure steady progress.

The initiative aims to enhance rural electricity reliability by strengthening agricultural feeders through decentralized renewable energy infrastructure.
