The Pollachi–Dindigul four-lane highway project, valued at ₹3,649 crore, is nearing completion, with 95% of work finished and targeted for completion by December 2025. Executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, the 131.96 km corridor will significantly improve connectivity between Pollachi, Dindigul, and Coimbatore, reducing travel time and easing traffic congestion.
Key works are underway on bridges, flyovers, and service roads, including a notable 2,166-metre stretch near Achipatti. The highway is designed to bypass nearly 80% of congested town centres, notably reducing heavy vehicle traffic in areas like Pollachi town.
While completion is on track, authorities have flagged potential delays due to heavy northeast monsoon rains, which could push the timeline to March 2026. Final construction phases are being expedited to meet deadlines. The project has involved extensive land acquisition, compensation, and clearance of structures. Local stakeholders and civic groups continue to urge swift completion, highlighting the project’s importance for regional economic development and commuter convenience.
