In a major milestone for industrial decarbonization, Hindustan Zinc has deployed India’s first 250-tonne capacity hybrid electric crane at its Zinc Smelter in Debari, Rajasthan. Capable of operating on both electric and diesel power, this advanced lifting machine is the latest addition to the company’s rapidly expanding green infrastructure.
This deployment underscores Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to its comprehensive sustainability roadmap. Over the past three years, the company has consistently led the sector in clean technology integration. Key milestones include introducing India's first underground battery electric vehicles (BEVs) at the Sindesar Khurd and Rampura Agucha mines, deploying electric loaders, and launching Rajasthan’s largest electric bulker fleet (40 EV bulkers in partnership with GreenLine Mobility). Backed by an industrial logistics fleet of over 250 LNG trucks and a 41-bus electric passenger initiative for employee transit, Hindustan Zinc continues to set the benchmark for zero-emission mining and smelting operations in India.
