Flowing Forward: ₹3,320 Crore Greenlit to Fast-Track Polavaram

The Central government has allocated ₹3,320 crore towards the revised cost of completing the Polavaram Irrigation Project.

The funding will support water storage up to an elevation of 41.15 metres, the minimum drawdown level, and is expected to significantly strengthen irrigation and drinking water supply in the region. In addition, ₹500.99 crore has been earmarked for the Andhra Pradesh Rural Roads Project to enhance connectivity in rural areas.

The Amaravati Integrated Urban Development Programme has received ₹432.09 crore through funding from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, supporting planned urban development in the capital region. Further allocations include ₹350 crore for the Andhra Pradesh Roads and Bridges Reconstruction Project to upgrade transport infrastructure, and ₹155.32 crore for the Andhra Pradesh Climate-Resilient Zero Budget Natural Farming Project, which promotes sustainable agricultural practices.

Together, these budgetary allocations underscore the Centre’s focus on strengthening irrigation, infrastructure development, urban planning, and climate-resilient farming in Andhra Pradesh.
