A major stride toward resolving Ghughus city’s persistent water crisis has been achieved, with Maharashtra’s Urban Development Department sanctioning ₹94 crore under the Centre’s AMRUT 2.0 scheme.
The project is designed to ensure residents receive clean, uninterrupted drinking water. Funding responsibilities will be shared—both the Central and State governments will contribute 45% each, while the Municipal Council will bear 5% of the total cost. The work is targeted for completion within 18 months.
Following the project’s approval, MLA Kishor Jorgewar met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss its implementation and review other ongoing development initiatives. Calling the decision “historic,” Jorgewar stated that the project would permanently address the city’s long-standing water scarcity and accelerate its overall development.
