The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) is spearheading a substantial initiative to enhance wastewater management infrastructure in Aerocity, Mohali, Punjab. This project encompasses the establishment of a Main Pumping Station (MPS) capable of handling 15 Million Litres per Day (MLD), a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) with a capacity of 10 MLD, and a Tertiary Treatment Plant (TTP) handling 5 MLD, aiming to effectively address wastewater concerns arising from urban expansion.
Situated in Aerocity, SAS Nagar Mohali, Punjab, this project focuses on collecting, treating, and purifying wastewater, bolstering sanitation, mitigating environmental pollution, and facilitating water conservation through non-potable reuse. The initiative holds paramount significance in aligning with sustainable practices, compliance with environmental standards, and ensuring stringent quality checks for treated wastewater.
Anticipated challenges encompass securing necessary permits, managing construction complexities, ensuring long-term operation, and fostering awareness about treated wastewater usage among residents and industries. GMADA's previous successful ventures in Mohali underline their expertise in wastewater management, emphasizing the project's potential to significantly elevate Aerocity's development and environmental sustainability.
As on December 2023, The project is currently in the stage of being approved currently awaiting approval from the government.
