Golden Breakthrough: Delhi Metro's Phase-IV Tunnel Achieved!

Tunneling work for Phase-IV of Delhi Metro’s Golden Line, between Kishangarh and Vasant Kunj stations, was completed on March 6, 2025.

A tunnel boring machine (TBM) successfully broke through at Vasant Kunj station in the presence of Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Power, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu. The 91-meter-long TBM excavated a 1,550-meter tunnel at Vasant Kunj station. The project includes two parallel circular tunnels for bidirectional movement, with the second tunnel expected to be completed by June. The newly completed tunnel, located at an average depth of 23 meters, consists of 1,107 tunnel rings, each with an inner diameter of 5.8 meters.

As part of the Phase-IV expansion, DMRC is constructing 40.109 km of underground metro lines. The Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor alone features 19.343 km of underground sections, according to officials.
