Gorakhpur’s ₹2 Crore Road: A Model for Urban India

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Gorakhpur to review the progress of several major infrastructure projects, including the CM Grid Smart Road, which he commended for its superior construction quality and innovative integrated utility duct system.

Developed under the CM Grid scheme, the smart road is designed to significantly strengthen urban infrastructure while also generating a steady annual revenue of around ₹2 crore for the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation through the leasing of utility ducts to agencies installing pipelines. The Chief Minister highlighted the road’s advanced stormwater management system, noting that it would prevent the need for frequent road digging and ensure long-term durability.

During the visit, CM Yogi also assessed the status of other key projects, including the Gorakhpur–Pipraich four-lane road, scheduled for completion by August 2026, and the Khajanchi Chowk flyover. He further inspected the Jungle Kaudia–Jagdishpur ring road project, emphasizing the need to maintain high construction standards while accelerating work to ensure timely completion.
