GPT Infraprojects has emerged as the L1 bidder for a significant ₹204 crore project awarded by South Eastern Railway (SER). The project involves the construction of two critical road overbridges (ROBs) in the Howrah-Kharagpur section, a vital corridor in West Bengal.
The contract, overseen by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Construction at SER, includes building a three-lane road overbridge near Andul-Sankrail Station and a two-lane road overbridge between Nalpur and Bauria Stations. The project will replace the existing level crossings, enhancing safety and easing traffic congestion in these busy areas.
The Andul-Sankrail ROB will feature a composite girder and a bow-string girder design, extending over a span of 30 meters and 60 meters respectively. Similarly, the Nalpur-Bauria ROB will utilize a combination of composite and pre-stressed concrete (PSC) girders, with the longest span being 60 meters.
This project is a strategic win for GPT Infraprojects, strengthening its position in the infrastructure sector, particularly in the domain of railway construction. The company’s ability to secure such a large-scale project highlights its expertise and competitive edge in bidding for critical infrastructure projects.
The construction of these ROBs is expected to significantly improve the flow of vehicular traffic in the region, ensuring timely completion of the project will be crucial for maintaining the momentum of development in the Howrah-Kharagpur section.
