Green Giant JSW Energy Inks 250 MW Storage Pact with Rajasthan

JSW Energy, through its step-down subsidiary JSW Renew Energy Thirty Seven, has signed a 12-year Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL) for a 250 MW/500 MWh standalone battery energy storage system. The project will be developed under Rajasthan’s Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) model.

Under the agreement, JSW Energy will supply storage services to the state at a tariff of ₹2,24,000 per MW per month. In a recent exchange filing, the company highlighted its preparedness, noting a total locked-in energy storage capacity of 29.3 GWh—including 2.9 GWh of battery storage and 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro. The company aims to scale this capacity to 40 GWh by 2030.

This marks JSW Energy’s second major power deal in a month, following a 25-year power purchase agreement with Adani Electricity Mumbai for 250 MW of wind power at ₹3.65/kWh. With a total installed capacity of 12,499 MW—55% of which is renewable—JSW Energy continues to strengthen its position in the green energy sector.
