Green Light for Ranasthalam Flyover: ₹250 Crore Project Back on Track

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has resumed work on the long-delayed flyover project at Ranasthalam in Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh.

The flyover is part of the broader six-lane highway expansion between Visakhapatnam and Ichchapuram, which began four years ago but faced delays due to opposition from local traders and farmers over land acquisition and concerns about economic disruption.

Persistent traffic congestion and accidents in the absence of a bypass and flyover have impacted nearly 2 lakh residents in nearby villages. Following intervention by Etcherla BJP MLA N. Eswara Rao, the flyover was redesigned as an open model, addressing both traffic flow and the needs of local businesses.

The revised plan involves an investment of ₹250 crore for a 1.5-km six-lane stretch, including the flyover, which is expected to be completed within the next two years. The project aims to balance infrastructure development with local economic interests.
