Gujarat's Gas Grid Gets a Mega Boost: GSPL's ₹650 Crore Pipeline Live!

Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL) has successfully commissioned a natural gas pipeline connecting Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd’s (HPCL) 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) LNG regasification terminal at Chhara, Gujarat, to the national gas grid.

Developed at a cost of approximately ₹650 crore, the pipeline has a transmission capacity of 18 million standard cubic meters per day. Commissioned on March 20, it runs along the outskirts of the eco-sensitive zone of Gir National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary.

The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the pipeline—from HPCL’s LNG terminal in Chhara to Lothpur in Amreli district—was awarded to Mumbai-based Ace Pipeline Contracts Private Limited in September 2023. The project includes a dispatch terminal at Chhara LNG, valve stations, and a receiving terminal at Lothpur.

Operated by HPCL LNG Limited (a subsidiary of HPCL), the Chhara LNG terminal is designed to regasify 5 MTPA of LNG, enhancing India’s natural gas infrastructure and supply network.
