The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is planning a significant investment of approximately Rs 2,800 crore for various infrastructure projects aimed at upgrading the city's facilities. This proposed budget will be discussed at the upcoming 13th meeting on July 10, 2024, chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Chandigarh.
Among the key projects is the construction of a sewage treatment plant (STP) in Sector-107, to be built in two phases at a cost of Rs 500 crore. Additionally, a common effluent treatment plant in Sector-34 costing Rs 107 crore and a master stormwater drainage system from Sector 76 to Sector 80, estimated at Rs 215 crore, are also on the agenda.
The budget includes Rs 111 crore for constructing two vital flyovers in Sector-51 and Sector-86. Another major project is the third phase of the CCTV expansion across GMDA roads, which will be implemented at an outlay of Rs 422 crore. Public transport improvements include the allocation of Rs 69.66 crore for procuring 200 e-buses.
Furthermore, Rs 634 crore is designated for upgrading the Tau Devi Lal Stadium to an international sports venue with facilities for night matches, new seating, lighting, and live telecast production. Enhancements to the main pumping station at the Dhanwapur STP are also proposed, with a budget of Rs 119 crore.
These projects, alongside existing ones and the overall annual budget, will be reviewed for approval. Notably, the construction of a six-lane surface road from Hero Honda Chowk to Umang Bhardwaj Chowk and a flyover connecting this road to the new flyover at Basai will be executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Additionally, the Gurugram-Rewari expressway is expected to be completed by the end of December.
The projects are in the planning and proposal stages, with tenders yet to be floated for several of them, including the service roads along the Dwarka Expressway.
