Haryana Power Gets a ₹5,929 Cr Boost from IRFC

Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) has signed a term loan agreement worth ₹5,929 crore with Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) to finance the third 800 MW supercritical unit at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamunanagar.

The agreement was formalized at HPGCL’s corporate office in Panchkula. This strategic project is set to enhance Haryana’s power generation capacity across residential, industrial, and agricultural sectors, leveraging modern and efficient thermal technology.

With its recent elevation to Navratna status, IRFC is broadening its infrastructure financing portfolio beyond railways to include power, mining, and logistics. Known for its robust asset quality and zero-NPA record, IRFC remains a trusted financier in the infrastructure space.

This collaboration will significantly boost HPGCL’s capacity and further strengthen its operational ties with Indian Railways, which both supplies coal to the plant and draws traction power from the state’s grid network.
