Haveri’s Big Win: New Hospitals & Medical College Coming Soon

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced plans to establish a cancer centre, a trauma centre, and a super-speciality hospital in Haveri district as part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure.

In addition, medical colleges and advanced healthcare facilities will be developed in the remaining districts of Karnataka in a phased manner. Speaking after inaugurating the Haveri Institute of Medical Sciences, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare at the district level, stressing that each district should have a medical college hospital, a super-speciality hospital, a cancer hospital, and a trauma centre.

CM Siddaramaiah noted that Karnataka currently has 71 medical colleges, including 22 run by the government, and indicated that further expansion is planned. He also defended the state’s guarantee schemes, stating that despite an expenditure of ₹1.12 lakh crore over the past two-and-a-half years, the state’s financial position remains stable. Additionally, he urged faster completion of key irrigation projects such as the Upper Krishna and Mahadayi schemes.
