Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, recently inaugurated multiple infrastructure and development projects worth over ₹10,800 crore in Kerala. The event took place amid the absence of several state leaders, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who along with other ministers chose to boycott the ceremony.
The boycott followed the exclusion of the state’s Public Works Department Minister P. A. Mohammed Riyas from the inaugural function for the first stretch of the six-lane expansion of National Highway 66 in Kozhikode.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s programme, Mohammed Riyas held a protest roadshow in Ramanattukara, stating that the omission of a state minister from the official event was a slight to the state.
