Hindustan Copper to Double Malanjkhand Capacity by 2030

Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) is accelerating the expansion of its mining operations with plans to double the annual ore production capacity of its flagship Malanjkhand Copper Project (MCP) in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district from 2.5 million tonnes to 5 million tonnes by 2030.

The Miniratna Category-I public sector undertaking has also outlined a phased capital expenditure (capex) programme to raise its overall ore production capacity to 12.2 million tonnes by 2030. Newly appointed Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Mishra said the company is strengthening project monitoring and execution, with engineering teams and corporate offices closely tracking milestones to ensure timely completion of expansion works. The capacity enhancement is expected to significantly increase domestic copper production and help meet India's rising demand for the critical metal.
