The Gujarat government has launched a major infrastructure expansion at the Indian Institute of Teacher Education (IITE) in Gandhinagar, with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel laying the foundation stone for a new academic building and student hostel at an investment of ₹127 crore.
The project includes a state-of-the-art academic and faculty block, seminar halls, a library, sports facilities, and a 600-bed hostel to support the university's growing student population. As part of its academic expansion, IITE is also establishing seven new university schools to strengthen interdisciplinary education, research, innovation, and skill-based learning.
Established as a dedicated teacher education university in 2010, IITE continues to enhance its academic and physical infrastructure. The latest investment is expected to improve higher education facilities, expand student capacity, and further position Gujarat as a prominent centre for quality education and teacher training.
