India Audits Stalled 44 GW Renewable Energy Pipeline

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has initiated a case-by-case audit of stalled renewable energy projects that have been unable to secure power sale agreements (PSAs). A comprehensive report is expected within 30–45 days.

Currently, 43.9 GW of awarded solar and wind projects remain unsigned due to shifting demand toward round-the-clock renewable power supported by storage systems. Distribution companies are increasingly seeking firm, reliable green power rather than variable generation. As a result, the government is prioritising the resolution of PSA challenges over issuing new renewable energy tenders.

Minister Pralhad Joshi also underscored the critical role of the Green Energy Corridor–III in facilitating power evacuation, noting that transmission constraints continue to hinder timely project implementation.
