India Plans 44-Airport Network with 4 Mega Hubs for Global Reach

The Indian government is planning to build a 44-airport network featuring four major hubs to enhance international connectivity. Designed around a hub-and-spoke model, the initiative links regional "spoke" airports—such as Varanasi and recently added Amritsar—to central hubs, streamlining passenger travel. While Delhi currently operates as the primary hub, upcoming expansions will see Ahmedabad added as a spoke airport to further boost flight efficiency and elevate India's standing in global aviation.
