India's Critical Mineral Push: Four New Processing Hubs Ahead

India is accelerating plans to build four dedicated critical mineral processing parks—with Gujarat and Maharashtra among the shortlisted locations—to strengthen its clean-energy supply chain. According to Mines Secretary Keshav Chandra, targeted initiatives for lithium and nickel will roll out soon, prioritizing the booming battery sector. Each park will integrate the entire value chain for a specific mineral, from processing to downstream manufacturing. While state governments will spearhead planning and execution, the Centre will offer technical backing. This initiative falls under the broader National Critical Mineral Mission, a seven-year, Rs 34,300 crore program designed to drive domestic and international exploration and secure India's green-energy transition.
