India's Meter Makeover: EDF & Actis Power Up with Smart Tech

EDF India has entered into a strategic joint venture (JV) with Actis, a global leader in sustainable infrastructure investment, to implement advanced smart metering infrastructure across India.

This JV will create a dedicated platform company that will manage advanced metering infrastructure service provider (AMISP) concessions. The Indian government is actively driving the National Smart Metering Project under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), focusing on reducing aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses while ensuring the financial stability of power distribution companies (DISCOMs).

Federico D'Amico, CEO of EDF India, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We are thrilled to collaborate with Actis to fast-track the deployment of smart metering solutions in India." This initiative aims to improve operational efficiency, minimize losses, and ensure more accurate billing, helping the National Smart Metering Project achieve its goal of installing 250 million smart meters by 2025.
