Ircon International has secured the lowest bidder (L1) position for the modernization and system augmentation project at Kanpur Electricity Supply Company (KESCo), with a contract value of Rs 497.50 crore.
The project involves the supply and installation of new substations, capacity enhancement and addition of power transformers, and the development of 33 kV and 11 kV transmission lines. It also includes the augmentation and reconductoring of existing transmission lines, installation and upgradation of distribution transformers, and construction of low-tension lines using bare conductors and aerial bundled (AB) cables. Additionally, protection and switching devices, including switchgears, will be erected or replaced to enhance system reliability.
This modernization effort aims to strengthen Kanpur’s electricity distribution infrastructure, improving service quality and operational efficiency.
