ITI Limited has secured a major infrastructure contract worth ₹72.76 crore to construct an ice hockey rink in Kaza, in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul and Spiti district.
Awarded by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, the project aims to strengthen winter sports infrastructure in the Spiti Valley, a high-altitude region located at approximately 12,000 feet above sea level. The scope includes building a full-scale ice hockey rink equipped with modern amenities such as a 500 kW solar power backup system, CCTV surveillance, and advanced lighting.
The project forms part of the High-Altitude Sports Training Centre initiative, which focuses on youth development and promoting sports tourism in the region. ITI Limited’s Chairman and Managing Director, Rajesh Rai, said the facility would significantly enhance ice hockey infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh and elevate Spiti’s profile as a winter sports destination. He also noted that the company continues to contribute to the state’s digital infrastructure through its involvement in BharatNet Phase III.
