Jaipur Metro Mega-Boost: Rs 12,000 Crore Rail Revolution!

The Rajasthan government has allocated Rs 12,000 crore for the development of Jaipur Metro Line 2, marking the first significant investment since the establishment of the Jaipur Metro Railway Corporation (JMRC) 15 years ago.

The new line, which will connect Sitapura to Ambabari and Vidhyadhar Nagar, will now be overseen by the newly formed Rajasthan Metro Railway Corporation (RMRC), a joint venture between the central and state governments. Finance Minister Diya Kumari also announced the cancellation of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) project in Jaipur. Last year’s budget had proposed extending Line 2 from Ambabari to Vidhyadhar Nagar, with JMRC tasked with preparing an updated detailed project report (DPR).

The revised DPR is nearly complete and is awaiting state approval for construction. RMRC will also work on DPRs for further metro extensions to Jagatpura and Vaishali Nagar. In addition, the Finance Minister revealed Rs 250 crore in new development projects for Jaipur.
