Jamshedpur's Rs 252-Crore Mango Flyover Nears Finish Line

The much-anticipated Rs 252-crore flyover project in the Mango locality of Jamshedpur is making significant headway, offering long-awaited relief to thousands of commuters battling daily traffic congestion. Strategically located near Blue Bells School on Dimna Road, the flyover aims to decongest one of the city's busiest corridors and improve overall urban mobility.

“This flyover is a lifeline for the people of Mango and surrounding areas,” said local resident Ramesh Singh. “This development will change that reality.”

The four-lane flyover, supported by 57 pillars, is designed to handle smooth two-way traffic. Construction is progressing swiftly, with 49 pillars already completed and work on the remaining structures underway.

A highlight of the project is the use of state-of-the-art construction technology. A girder launching machine worth Rs 9.5 crore—capable of lifting 125-tonne girders—has been deployed. More than Rs 30 crore has been invested in machinery, including Rs 4.5 crore dedicated to piling equipment.

In parallel, another flyover on New Purulia Road has been upgraded from a one-way to a two-way route, following the intervention of local MLA Saryu Roy to better accommodate growing commuter demands. Together, these two infrastructure projects mark a major advancement in Jamshedpur’s road network and urban development.
