Jewar's Jet Fuel: Rs 1.96 Billion Boost for Noida Airport's Fast Track

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved Rs 1.96 billion for key infrastructure projects supporting the upcoming Noida International Airport near Jewar, according to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). These include an 8.25 km expressway to the cargo terminal and a dedicated VVIP corridor.

The 30-meter-wide cargo terminal road is expected to be completed within four months, while the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will develop a 750-meter, 60-meter-wide VVIP route. YEIDA and NHAI have formalized an agreement to enhance connectivity, ensuring seamless access as airport traffic increases. The VVIP corridor will also function as an emergency route linking the airport with the expressway.

Meanwhile, Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) reports that terminal construction is in its final stages, with flooring, escalators, and roofing nearing completion. Over 90% of the Rs 100 billion first-phase budget has been utilized. The airport is set to commence operations on April 17, 2025, with an initial capacity of 12 million passengers per year. Plans for the second phase, including a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) hub and additional runways, are progressing, with plot allotment tenders underway.
