Jindal’s Mega Expansion: Inside the ₹1,900 Cr Stainless Steel Push

Jindal Stainless has commissioned a 1.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) stainless steel melt shop (SMS) in Indonesia through its joint venture, ahead of schedule.

With the addition of this facility, the company’s total melting capacity has increased to 4.2 mtpa, of which 3 mtpa is located in India.

The company is also advancing its domestic expansion plans. It aims to commission a 1.1 mtpa hot rolled annealed pickled (HRAP) line at its Jajpur facility in Odisha by the fourth quarter of FY27. Additionally, a 0.17 mtpa cold rolling capacity is expected to become operational by the second quarter of FY27.

The combined investment for these expansion projects is estimated at ₹1,900 crore.
