JSW Infrastructure has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority (Kolkata Port) for the reconstruction of Berth 8 and mechanisation of Berths 7 and 8 at Netaji Subhas Dock.
The project will be developed under a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) model via public-private partnership (PPP), with a 30-year concession period. With an estimated capital expenditure of ₹740 crore, the initiative aims to significantly boost capacity and improve cargo handling efficiency at the port. Construction is expected to be completed within two years, although JSW Infrastructure plans to commence partial operations during the build phase to leverage Kolkata’s existing cargo volumes.
This project further strengthens JSW Infrastructure’s growing presence in the port sector. The company currently operates the New Mangalore Container Terminal on India’s west coast, with a capacity of 0.2 million TEUs, which is being expanded to 0.35 million TEUs. With the addition of the Kolkata terminal, JSW Infrastructure’s total container handling capacity will approach 1 million TEUs, reinforcing its position as an emerging leader in India’s maritime logistics landscape.
