JSW Renew Energy Twenty, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has signed a significant power purchase agreement (PPA) with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) for a 300 MW solar project in Pavagada Solar Park, Karnataka. The agreement, awarded by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development (KREDL), is set to last until FY 2044, with a competitive tariff of ₹2.89 per kWh. This marks another milestone in JSW Energy's commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio.
The Pavagada Solar Park project, expected to be commissioned within the next 18 months, is part of JSW Energy's broader solar pipeline, which currently stands at 3.2 GW. With PPAs signed for 1.3 GW, the company is steadily progressing toward its ambitious renewable energy goals. The Pavagada project will contribute significantly to JSW Energy's strategy to strengthen its presence in the solar sector.
JSW Energy's total generation capacity is currently 16.7 GW, with 7.5 GW already operational and 2.3 GW under construction across wind, thermal, and hydro projects. The company’s renewable energy pipeline is robust, with 6.9 GW in the works and PPAs secured for 2.3 GW. This diverse energy portfolio underscores JSW's commitment to sustainability and its role in India's energy transition.
In addition to its generation capacity, JSW Energy is also focusing on energy storage, with 4.2 GWh locked in through battery energy storage systems and hydro pumped storage projects. The company aims to reach 20 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030, positioning itself as a leader in the renewable energy space.
This latest agreement with BESCOM not only strengthens JSW Energy's foothold in Karnataka but also highlights its dedication to expanding India's renewable energy capabilities, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.
