JSW Steel has achieved its highest-ever consolidated crude steel production for the fourth quarter of FY25, reaching 7.63 million tonnes (MT). This represents a 9% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) and a 12% year-on-year (YoY) increase in performance.
The company’s Indian operations also reported their highest-ever quarterly crude steel production of 7.40 MT, marking a 9% QoQ and a 13% YoY increase. This figure includes 0.21 MT of trial run production, up from 0.12 MT in Q3/FY25. Excluding trial runs, capacity utilisation for Indian operations stood strong at 93% for the quarter.
A significant achievement during the quarter was the continued ramp-up of the five MTPA integrated steel project at Vijayanagar, managed by JSW Vijayanagar Metallics (JVML), a wholly owned subsidiary. Following the successful commissioning of the 4.5 MTPA blast furnace, raw material handling system, and sinter plant in Q2/FY25, JVML also successfully commissioned one of the two converters and casters at its Steel Melt Shop during Q3/FY25. Production ramp-up at the site is progressing well.
Upon full operationalisation, the JVML facility will raise the total crude steel capacity at Vijayanagar to 17.5 MTPA, boosting JSW Steel’s total Indian crude steel capacity to 34.2 MTPA. The ongoing commissioning of new capacities and improved output efficiency indicates a strong outlook for the company’s future growth.
