The Andhra Pradesh government has achieved a key milestone in the development of Amaravati with the laying of the raft foundation for the new High Court complex.
The construction was formally launched by the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Ponguru Narayana, who performed traditional rituals before commencement of the works. Designed by the internationally renowned architectural firm Norman Foster and Partners, the High Court complex will span 21 lakh sq ft and house 52 court halls.
The courtrooms will be distributed across the second, fourth, and sixth floors, while the Chief Justice’s court will be located on the eighth floor. The project will consume approximately 45,000 tonnes of steel and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.
Equipped with modern infrastructure, advanced digital court systems, and extensive public amenities, the High Court complex is one of seven iconic buildings currently under development in Amaravati. Minister Narayana reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to completing the capital city in line with the vision laid out in the Amaravati master plan.
